Congratulations to Lee Fuhr, our new Executive Director and Jessica Parsley Cummings, our new Associate Choral Director!
Lee Fuhr, Executive Director
The Board of Directors of The Frederick Children’s Chorus is pleased to announce the promotion of Lee Fuhr to the position of Executive Director. Mrs. Fuhr is a long-time member of the musical and administrative staff of the organization, as well as being an alum, having sung 14 years in the chorus.
This is a historic day, as Mrs. Fuhr is the first Executive Director for the organization. The Board is confident that Lee’s experience and skills will help the future growth of The Frederick Children’s Chorus.
Mrs. Fuhr has been a member of the chorus staff since May, 2004, first serving as Assistant Director, then adding Office Manager to her duties. In 2017, she was promoted to Director, serving as the administrative staff leadership and leading several Hood College interns. She has become the face of the organization over the past 2 years, interfacing with the business and non-profit community, earning more private and public donations than ever before, and launching an expansion for the Little Music Makers program, bringing world class vocal education to the youngest members of our community.
Kyle Huth, President of the Board of Directors, said, “We are excited about the addition of this position to our staff. It has been a long-range goal as part of our strategic plan, and there is no more qualified person to lead the chorus into the next phase of growth and advocacy for children. Singing in a chorus is so much more than learning how to read music off the page. The experiences these children gain from their membership are vast and varied, from history, culture and math, to confidence, teamwork, stage presence, pride and poise. Lee understands these factors on a personal level, and she will use her considerable experience to promote the chorus and everything it stands for.”
Mrs. Fuhr works side by side with Founder and Artistic Director, Judy DuBose, on day to day leadership, as well as long-range goals. They plan concerts, performance opportunities, trips and community outreach together as a team. Assisting Mrs. Fuhr on the administrative team are Office Manager, Kathy Siedor, Marketing Coordinator, Alyse Wilmore, and Little Music Makers Coordinator, Carrie Silver.
